The year is 2008 and I was on holiday in Antigua, enjoying fabulous sunshine and looking forward to watching the test match as the W.Indies played Australia.
On the field were stars like Ricky Ponting, Mike Hussey, Brett Lee, Michael Clarke, Simon Katich and for the W.Indies Dwayne Bravo, Sarwin and Chanderpaul.
Although the test match was drawn the Australians were clearly the better side.
I was fortunate to meet many of the players both past and present including Curtly Ambrose, Kerry O'Keefe, Eldine Baptiste and indeed I spent some time back in my hotel with Jimmy Adams, Greg Blewett and veteran commentator Tony Cozier.
However the highlight of the whole tour was walking into the "Sticky Wickets" bar with my two sons and turning the corner to see 5 cricketing legends about to enjoy their lunch.
Those legends were Sir Viv Richards, Courtney Walsh, Everton Weeks, Andy Roberts, and Lance Gibbs.
Now I don't think many English cricket lovers would come across these gents very often, certainly not in one place at the same time.
After picking my jaw from the floor I asked if they would mind signing a couple of books I had with me. They did so without hesitation (yes even Sir Viv) and these are now part of my prized cricket collection. Not only was it a fantastic holiday, it was a fabulous test match made all the more amazing thanks to those fine cricketing gentlemen.
