We were fielding first on this bright sunny Saturday afternoon and the left arm quick bowler was at his mark ready to bowl the first over of the game. On this occasion I was fielding at 1st slip. The slip cordon and wicket keeper crouched to prepare for the first ball when there was a tremendous rending sound... as the wicket keepers trousers split literally from cheek to cheek! After the rather tame first ball the batsman and bowler turned to look quizzically at the cause of the disturbance whilst the rest of the fielders enjoyed the merriment. The wicket keeper's wife who happened to be there that day was hastily summoned with a supply of safety pins to try to cover the poor guy's modesty.
