A Collection of memories of first visits to Lord's

I think it was circa 1961 when I travelled from Durham to London to visit Lord's for the first time. I wanted to see Norman O'Neill playing for the Aussies against Middlesex. Alas, admission took for ever and by the time I reached my seat, Norman had been 9 gone. Amazingly, 'Slasher' Mackay came in and flayed the bowling. A wonderful memory and I recall it every time I visit Lord's - a beautiful spot. Dave Smith

I first came here in 1963 against Australia and I was about 12/13 years old. I fell out with my friend and chased him and he fell down the concrete steps which was quite embarrassing for us both but we soon made up. I have been since, such as in 1987, Hertfordshire played against Middlesex and, of course, lost, and also about 3 years ago Hertfordshire v Berkshire and they lost again. Anon

My first memory is sat on the extremely uncomfortable wooden benches on the now Mound Stand side of the ground . The mid 70's , Procter , Zaheer , Sadiq et all . Warm summer school holidays eating cucumber sandwiches with my Grandad . I was hooked ! And have been ever since ! The Lords final of 1977. Taking everything in (as an 11 year old) . The raising of the B & H cup sending shivers down my spine. The subsequent Lord's trips in later years and introducing my family - who are all proud members of the club .Martyn Howlett

The first time I came to Lord's was with a group of friends at a party. I watched the Clydesdale Bank Pro40 competition final, in which Ian Bell made 50. He is my favourite batsman so it inspired me to play more cricket, it was great. Matthew Ansol

My first visit to Lord's at the age of 82! Mike Croson
