A Collection of Middlesex memories of first visits to Lord's

Up from the country, sneaking off on my own from a stay with a school friend and finding my way to Lord's to see my hero Denis Compton. I sat in the 'free seats' (now the Compton stand!) to see Middlesex v the West Indies. Compton scored 24, I can still see those wonderful dashing strokes. The first visit of many, it's a wonderful place. Gillian Beton

My first visit to Lord's was in 1947 to see Middlesex (included Robertson, Edrich and the Compton brothers) against Sussex. It was Bank Holiday and the ground was packed to the eyeballs! Adam Farnham

First visit to Lord's (JPL Sunday match against Sussex in August 1977) I remember seeing Imran Khan play and a perfect view of a run-out from the old Grandstand balcony. A disgrace that the new Grandstand doesn't have a similar balcony. Christopher Ashbridge

Lords, May 1979. Middlesex v Warwickshire, I think. Cold and drizzly, hardly anyone in the ground, but my first visit to the legendary home of cricket, so an incredible memory. Matthew Kentridge
