I was born in Brighton but my parents moved to Surrey when I was 5 months old. However I followed my fathers guide and have supported Sussex CCC and Brighton and Hove Albion all my life.
I am pleased to say both my sons and one of my grandsons do as well. I am working on my other grandson ! I am now retired and living in Somerset having lived in Buckinghamshire all my working life. This entailed a lot of travelling to quench my sporting thirst.
My best memory of supporting Sussex was in September 2003 when we won the County Championship for the first time. I realised the day before that we would clinch the title so I booked a day off work and drove down early the next day. I did not know the streets in Hove that well but eventually parked and made my way to the County Ground.
I can honestly say that when the title was clinched in mid afternoon to the strains of Sussex by the sea, it was one of the most emotional days of my life. It was not spoilt at all by the fact it took me well over an hour to locate my car !
