On 30 August 2000, I made my County Championship debut for Glamorgan versus Essex. I was very proud to be making my debut and had gone really well to make an unbeaten 82. I was facing Peter Such and instead of playing for my 100 I decided to go for the boundary and hit Peter over long-off. Fielding on the line was Will Jefferson, all 6ft 10in of him! Will plucked the ball from above his head and that was my first professional innings over. I never made a higher Championship score for Glamorgan and also missed out on being the first Glamorgan player to make a 100 on debut since Matthew Maynard. A bittersweet memory!
